Traditional English carol (arr. David Willcocks) Lyrics: God rest ye merry, gentlemen Let nothing you dismay For Jezus Christ, our Saviour Was born upon this day To save us all from Satan's power When we were gone astray O tidings of comfort and joy, Comfort and joy O tidings of comfort and joy From God our Heavenly Father A blessed Angel came; And unto certain Shepherds Brought tidings of the same: How that in Bethlehem was born The Son of God by Name. O tidings of comfort and joy, Comfort and joy O tidings of comfort and joy The shepherds at those tidings Rejoiced much in mind, And left their flocks a-feeding In tempest, storm and wind: And went to Bethlehem straightway This blessed baby to find. O tidings of comfort and joy, Comfort and joy O tidings of comfort and joy And when to Bethlehem they came Where this infant lay, They found Him in a manger, Where oxen feed on hay; His Mother Mary kneeling, Unto the Lord did pray. O tidings of comfort and joy, Comfort and joy O tidings of comfort and joy

Old Basque Noël Words 15th century (adapted) Lyrics: I saw a maiden sitting and sing: She lull'd her child, a sweete lording Lullay. lullay, my dear son, my sweeting; Lullay, lullay, my dear heart, my own dear dearing. There was mickle melody at that childes birth: And all in heaven's bliss, they made mickle mirth Lullay. lullay, my dear son, my sweeting; Lullay, lullay, my dear heart, my own dear dearing. Angels sang that night and saiden to that child: Now blest be thou and she, both meek and mild. Lullay. lullay, my dear son, my sweeting; Lullay, lullay, my dear heart, my own dear dearing.

composer John Tavener (1944-2013) Lyrics: Mother of God, here I stand now praying, Before this icon of your radiant brightness, Not praying to be saved from a battlefield, Not giving thanks, nor seeking forgiveness For the sins of my soul, nor for all the souls. Numb, joyless and desolate on earth, But for her alone, whom I wholly give you.

By: Frank Havroy Lyrics: Bysjan, bysjan lite bån Bysjan, bysjan lite bån, no skal bånet såvvå, jenta stilt åt ramna gå, gåmål krok åt klåvvå. Ute skin en ljøske blek, stjernerap og måne, lyser opp i skauom te, dagen kjem te gråne. Lyser opp og syner vei, stjernerap og måne, for så mang en husvill krok, bysjan, bysjan båne. Hush, hush little child Hush, hush little child, time to sleep, the girl goes quietly to her bed, the old one to the chamber. Outside a pale light shines, shooting stars and moonlight light up the forest until day begins to dawn. Light up the way, starlight and moon, for many a lost soul on the road, hush, hush child.

Patapan 01:30

about

Christmas. For some it represents the birth of Christ. For others it's Santa Claus who brings the joy. But for many of us this mid-winter feast brings family and friends, celebration, light, connectedness and reflection.
Every other year Kwintessens sings a special Christmas program by which the choir, together with an always overloaded church, celebrates the Christmas festivities. Followed bij glühwein and hot chocolate this event represents the joy of both being and singing together.
These warm and happy feelings we wanted to last longer and even bring them into our listeners homes. And from that we recorded this album.

The music will bring you joy, light and the magical feeling Christmas is surrounded by. And listening to it, we all wish you a very merry Christmas.
